Discover the VELP Homogenizers: powerful, easy to operate, reliable and unique in design.

For more than 40 years, innovation and continuous product development have been crucial to VELP's growth. In line with our mission, we are proud to present our latest solution: OV 625 Digital, a new powerful, reliable and attractive homogenizer designed to make our customers’ lives easier and better.

A reliable partner for a wide range of applications:

Homogenization: Usually refers to laboratory applications where it is necessary to mix, suspend, emulsify, disintegrate and dissolve two or more immiscible phases in a fluid to produce a mixture.

The integrity of the mixture depends on how well the homogenizer performs its task.

Homogenization has applications in a wide range of industries:

Food and feed: for the preparation of foam mixtures, homogenization of smoothies and other foods, preparation of spreadable creams and food fillings

Pharmaceuticals: used for tablet coating, homogenization or crushing of tablets, preparation of ointments and creams

Cosmetics: used in lip balm, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and various cosmetic preparations

Life Sciences: Sample preparation for DNA analysis, dispersions of organic tissues, and preparation of organic samples

Chemical industry: used for the preparation of pigments, inks, paints, ceramics and ceramic slurries, processing of textile fibers, and preparation of petroleum derivative dispersions from biodiesel

How do homogenizing rotors work?

A homogenizer is a mixing device that breaks down particles into a mixture.

It consists of a powerful motor drive and a cutter head. The dispersing tool consists of a rotor which rotates at high speed inside a stator. The area between the rotor tip and the stator gap is called the shear gap.

Due to the high peripheral speed, the medium is sucked axially into the cutter head and then forced radially through the grooves in the shear gap, thus breaking up the particles.

The high speed and minimal gap between the rotor and stator generate extremely strong shear forces, resulting in better dispersion.

A wide variety of rotor/stator and homogenizing tool configurations are required to handle different fluids. In order to adapt the equipment to certain specific requirements, it is sometimes necessary to use two dispersing tools to achieve a coarse to fine particle size reduction.
