Conductivity meters can be used in the field or in the laboratory to measure the conductivity of a solution or the total ion concentration in a solution. Conductivity meters are one of the easiest environmental tests for solution samples. A conductivity meter cannot tell you what ions are being measured, but it can quickly determine the total concentration of all ions. Conductivity meters can perform a wide variety of tests or experiments to determine the total number of dissolved ions or changes in salt content:
• Conductivity meters allow customers to essentially understand the difference between the ionic and molecular states of substances in aqueous solutions. These include: the difference in strength between weak acids and weak bases, or the number of ions that are broken down from each unit of ionic matter.
